Applying proven tools from Startup Weekend and Lean Startup Machine to build successful local news businesses
Bringing local news businesses to life in one groundbreaking 54-hour event.
Nov 16-18, 2018, at The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Over the course of three days, Journalism Entrepreneurship Weekend aims to bring together roughly 100 people who want to build a business around reporting or information products for local communities.
Participants will come from a wide range of backgrounds -- editorial, product, business, design -- and will be taken through an innovative curriculum that starts with team-building exercises and culminates with lively presentations.
The curriculum mixes the best parts of events like Startup Weekend and Lean Startup Machine. Each team will receive coaching from newsroom leaders and investors who have been a part of creating viable journalism businesses. (A detailed program outline is provided below.)
