We’ve decided that Facebook isn’t good for us, isn’t good for journalism and likely not good for society.

Facebook is no longer just a ‘social network’ — it has become algorithmic and manipulative and is a company that we can no longer trust with our information, relationships and communications.

So we’ve decided to join the #DeleteFacebook movement and we’ve permanently deleted our pages on the social network and deactivated all Facebook connected tools.

We do believe in the power of the social network – and have decided to launch FourthEstate.Social, – We would like to invite you to join us.

FourthEstate.social is built with Mastodon, a social platform based on open web protocols and free, open-source software. It is decentralized like e-mail. You can use FourthEstate.social, another instance or even launch your own network.

Built for real conversation
With 500 characters at your disposal and support for granular content and media warnings, you can express yourself the way you want to.

You’re a person, not a product
Mastodon is not a commercial network. No advertising, no data mining, no walled gardens. There is no central authority.

Feel safe in your community
It’s part of a global network of interconnected communities,
This also means you can choose who sees your posts: friends, your community, or the entire fediverse.

It’s easy to access
Multiple apps for iOS, Android, and other platforms thanks to a developer-friendly API ecosystem allow you to keep up with your friends anywhere.
