Social Media Marketing Internship


Are you a journalism, marketing or communication student looking to get hands-on experience?

In this summer, part-time, paid internship (approximately 20 hours per week) you will work alongside the Executive Director to help develop and execute our social media marketing strategy. You will have a variety of challenging and meaningful assignments with personalized goals and projects that track directly to the needs of the Fourth Estate and allow you to play a key role in initiatives that will have an immediate impact on the success of the organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and expand the database of contacts and prospects in our CRM (Nimble CRM)
  • Identify and execute innovative social media marketing ideas to drive brand growth and engagement
  • Community management across our main accounts, Twitter and Facebook
  • Create and schedule evergreen content for social media platforms, Twitter and Facebook
  • Monitor our social media presence, analyze, and present in weekly marketing meeting, providing actionable insight where needed to better serve our constituents
  • Research current trends, analyze, and write 4 – 6 blog posts per month synthesizing the information gained
  • Recruit candidates to contribute blog posts
  • Research and document upcoming conferences, trade-shows and events that fit our organizational profile

The ideal candidate will:

  • be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in journalism, marketing, or a similar field
  • have an interest in social journalism, media, marketing or brand strategy as a career
  • be familiar with and active on various social media sites
  • be a proactive, problem solver, independent, and innovative mindset
  • be a quick learner with ability to multitask and thrive in an unstructured environment
