The Fourth Estate supports H.R. 4935: Journalist Protection Act

The Fourth Estate Public Benefit Corporation supports California Representative Eric Swalwell’s (CA-15) legislation to protect journalists from physical attack.

The ‘Journalist Protection Act‘ proposes to make certain attacks on reporters a federal crime.

HR-4935 aka The Journalist Protection Act, makes it a federal crime to intentionally cause bodily injury to a journalist affecting interstate or foreign commerce in the course of reporting or in a manner designed to intimidate him or her from newsgathering for a media organization
