Structure and Governance

Membership in the Fourth Estate is open to all persons and entities able to benefit and use our services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership, without gender, social, racial, political, or religious discrimination.

The Governing documents of the Fourth Estate Public Benefit Corporation consist of the Constitution, the Bylaws, and other appendices.

The Constitution establishes the sovereignty of the Fourth Estate. It is composed of articles and amendments that enumerate the purpose, describe the structure, and establish the identity of the Fourth Estate.

The Bylaws define the roles, rights and obligations of our members, committees, directors and staff. The bylaws govern the process and procedures of our operation, and are intended to ensure equity and fairness in all proceedings.

The Core Principles are guidelines for all of us — producers of journalism as well as its consumers — in an evolving media landscape.
