The Fourth Estate Public Benefit Corporation fully supports S. 1273 and H.R. 2426, also known as the “Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement (CASE) Act.”
We are among the many organizations, the thousands of news outlets, and millions of content creators, who rely on copyright law to protect the investment we make in new and valuable content and creative works.
However the benefits of copyright protection are effectively out of reach for most content creators, and the cost of civil litigation is onerous – leaving copyright a right that lacks remedy.
The CASE Act provides that remedy.
Your support for S. 1273 and H.R. 2426 would create a small claims tribunal within the U.S. Copyright Office that would adjudicate copyright infringement cases, lower the burden on the courts, while providing millions of content creators with an option to defend their valuable intellectual property rights.
We look forward to your support on this important issue.
